Leading German multinational technology conglomerate Siemens AG has begun construction of an 82,000-square-foot medical device research, development and manufacturing facility at Pellissippi Place, according to Jeff Muir, communications director for the Blount Partnership.
Construction is expected to take 18 months to complete.
Founded in 1847, Siemens employs more than 318,000 people worldwide, but estimates for how many employees will work at this facility are not yet available.
Pellissippi Place is a 450-acre, Blount Partnership-owned research and development park, technology hub, business park and live-work-play destination located on East Broadway at the Pellissippi Highway interchange.
Medical equipment manufacturer ProNova Solutions opened its $20 million research and manufacturing facility at the park in 2015.
Nashville-based Ramston Capital also plans to construct a 400-unit apartment complex called Pellissippi Lofts beginning this year or early next year, according to Muir.
Remaining mixed-use businesses are expected to begin construction as the Pellissippi Place project develops over the next few years.
