Collin Chrisman is preparing to open Slice & Tap Pizza at Louisville and Hunt roads in the Green Meadow Plaza this summer.

“I’ve always wanted to get into business for myself,” Chrisman said. “It’s a great location and we know the area really well, but then I also just love pizza.”

Although the previous tenant in the shopping center also served pizza, the 37-year-old University of Tennessee economics major said he and his father, who has commercial construction experience, are building out the site to include a unique style, seating for 22 inside, and additional patio seating for another 15 to 20.

Chrisman is also perfecting his New York-style pizza recipes and plans to sell pizza by the slice with local beer on tap.

Once open, he initially expects to hire one main pizza chef with at least five years’ experience, a part-time kitchen employee, a delivery driver and a server.

“I was hoping to open May 1,” he said, pointing out that preparations have been more challenging than expected, “but now I’m thinking it will probably be closer to June 1.”
